Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I reupholster when it may be cheaper to buy new?

Remember that saying, “You get what you paid for!”?  There’s a reason it’s such a long-standing cliché!  Re-upholstery can seem to cost a lot up front, but after considering the superior craftsmanship, longer lifespan, and higher quality that can be obtained through re-upholstery, it can certainly end up being more cost effective than buying new.

Newly produced furniture only has a life-span of about 5 years due to the lower quality materials being used to produce these pieces. New pieces can contain plywood frames and plastic structural elements, inferior quality foam, and inferior upholstery fabric or leather. These inexpensive materials can cause your furniture to lose its shape, become uncomfortable, and look shabby after only a matter of months.

Older furniture was made with better quality materials and had more experienced craftsman fabricating the frames. Reupholstery can offer a restart on the lifespan of the piece and can be expected to last from 5 to 20+ years depending on material selection.

Is my furniture worth reupholstering?

There are a few questions to help answer this question:

Do you feel that you own a quality piece of furniture (typically, the older, the better)?

Does the piece have sentimental value to you?

Does the furniture fit your space?

Do you like the piece, aside from the fabric?

If yes, then the furniture is absolutely worth reupholstering!

Can I get a "ballpark" price?

Pricing for reupholstery can vary widely from project to project. With so many factors involved in pricing, it is very difficult to determine a ballpark price. For those reasons we look to avoid giving a general price when there are many specifics still needing to be determined.

If you can provide us photos of the piece(s) you are interested in having reupholstered, we can work up a quote for you! As your details refine, we can refine your quote as well.

How long does it take?

Standard reupholstery projects are estimated at an average of a 2 to 3 week turnaround time from the scheduled start date to completion.

Larger projects such as sectionals are typically between 3 to 4 weeks maximum turnaround time.

Custom Furniture & Professional Refinishing - lead times will vary depending on project specs.

Do you tear down the furniture before you recover?

We take your furniture all the way down to the frame. After removing the fabric, we check the frame, springs, fillings, webbing and padding to see if anything is in need of repair.  It is important that the frame is structurally sound before proceeding with any re-upholstery.  We will notify you if repairs are needed beyond what was indicated in your project estimate.

My cushions are out of shape or not as comfortable as I'd like. What can I do?

Yes, of course!  Replacing cushions inserts is one of the easiest ways to bring life back to your furniture when the cushions are not holding their shape or are no longer comfortable.   We provide high quality foam inserts wrapped with Dacron fiber that gives a fuller more well-rounded look. Average sofa seat cushions cost about $150 + tax per cushion. Pricing does vary based on cushion dimensions. We typically can work cushion refills into our schedule, but please call ahead. We aim for a 1 week turnaround time for cushion refills depending on quantity and available stock.

Do you offer pickup and delivery?

Our dedicated service team is available for pickups and deliveries. We have a large transit van that can accommodate almost any sized project!

Is there a fee? Fees vary depending on location, please provide your address to confirm pickup & delivery fees.
